Action Alert - July 12,2011Stop Them from Turning Educators into Nurses!CTA-opposed SB 161 (Huff), a bill that would allow non-medical personnel to administer Diastat – a form of valium -- rectally to students in the throes of a seizure passed the Assembly Education Committee on July 6 and is headed to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for a hearing on or after August 15.Members of Appropriations include Assemblymembers Fuentes, Harkey, Blumenfield, Bradford, Calderon, Campos, Davis, Donnelly, Gatto, Hall, Hill, Lara, Mitchell, Nielsen, Norby, Solorio, and Wagner. At this time, making constituent contacts into local Assembly district offices is critical. It does not matter if the contacts are from teachers, classified employees, their family members, your family members, staff members, friends, etc. - particularly registered voters. Please share this request for help with as many individuals as possible.
