CREDENTIALING INFORMATION
revised
02/08/2010
- The California Commission on Teacher
Credentialing (CTC) issued some information over the summer that has the
potential to affect any and all members who teach special education students
with autism.
- BHEA is working closely with CTA to
synthesize the CTC information. Upon synthesis, BHEA will issue
suggestions to all of our affected members on how to deal with the potential
changes to your working conditions that may arise from this CTC information.
- In the meantime, BHEA encourages you
to review the official CTC information released thus far and to stay
informed.
- As of right now, there appear to be
two pathways to autism authorization, one being more intensive than the
other.
- Click to download the CTC information
packet that discusses the more
INTENSIVE pathway
to autism authorization.
- Click to download the CTC information
packet that discusses the
ALTERNATIVE
pathway to autism authorization. Please note that this option is only
a temporary solution. The latest information that BHEA has received
from CTA indicates that all special education teachers who are not
credentialed to teach special education students with autism will need to
attain additional coursework via the intensive route above once universities
have programs in place.
