BHEA/BHUSD TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

- NEGOTIATED 2009-2010 TENTATIVE AGREEMENT:
- Here are the hyperlinks to the
language tentatively approved at the certificated bargaining table and
signed on June 1, 2010:
- SUMMARY:
- This tentative agreement
would implement all of the following:
- BHUSD/BHEA
Relations: Several parameters governing the
professional relationship between the district and BHEA would be
established for the first time. Areas include: 1)
creation and transfer of certificated unit member work; 2) new
programs; 3) labor relations training; 4) requests for
information; 5) BHEA representation; 6) interference; and 7)
communication.
- Hours:
Language would be updated to clarify weekly student contact
minutes by eliminating the redundant use of the term
"period-equivalent." Weekly student contact minutes would
remain at 1,250 to 1,350.
- Class Size:
Class size language for regular education K-8 specialists would
be established for the first time. K-8 specialists include
art, technology, choral music, instrumental music, and physical
education teachers.
- Class Size:
Language would be clarified to distinguish core middle school
program areas from elective areas.
- Class Size:
Language would be updated to replace the term "staffing ratio"
with the term "average class size."
- School
Calendar: The 2012-2013 academic calendar would be
established.
- APPROVAL TIMELINE:
- The timeline for BHEA
ratification and BHUSD approval of this tentative agreement is:
- Thursday, June 10.
General BHEA meeting. 4:00pm. Room 118, Beverly
Hills High School. All members are welcome to attend and
ask questions about the tentative agreement. Bargaining
team members will be on hand to answer questions.
- Monday, June 14.
BHEA ratification election. Conducted at all five school
sites. All certificated BHEA members are eligible to vote
on ratifying the tentative agreement.
- Tuesday, June 22.
BHUSD Board of Education approval. The Board of Education
will schedule a vote on approving the tentative agreement, the
final step in successfully adopting these proposed contract
changes.
